Music Industry Intelligence

Chartmetric Flow is an AI-first analytics workspace for the music industry. Analyze trends across streaming, social, and traditional media, understand why they happened, and turn them into action.

Ask Flow anything about your roster, a competitor, or a market. It searches across Chartmetric's full dataset and delivers clear, data-backed answers — not raw numbers.

Flow turns insights into execution: build lists, set alerts, pitch creators, plan tours, and export everything from one place. Weekly executive digests surface trending stats, audience shifts, and fandom engagement across your roster.

The Timeline tab overlays Spotify, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube data to pinpoint exactly why an artist grew — and when it started.

Frequently asked questions

Getting Started

What is Flow?

Flow is a music analytics platform built on top of Chartmetric's data infrastructure. It gives managers, label teams, booking agents, and A&R professionals a single place to track artist performance across Spotify, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and more — with AI-powered analysis built in.

Who is Flow built for?

Flow is designed for music industry professionals who work directly with artists — managers, labels, talent agencies, A&R teams, and anyone who needs to move fast on data.

How is Flow different from Chartmetric?

Chartmetric is our core data platform. Flow is the layer built on top of it specifically for roster management and decision-making workflows — with an AI assistant, actionable task views, curated news, and team-facing digests. Think of Chartmetric as the engine and Flow as the cockpit.

Is this the same data as Chartmetric?

Yes. Flow is powered by the same real-time data that Chartmetric has been collecting since 2015 — across 10+ platforms, updated daily. Your account is tied directly to your Chartmetric credentials.

Why Flow?

Why use Flow instead of ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini connected to Chartmetric via MCP?

Cost. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are trained on, and only have access to, data in the public domain. But the vast majority of data relating to the music industry (and every other industry) is private and confidential. MCP lets those AIs connect to Chartmetric's dataset and extract specific data points. That's useful for adding a few metrics on a specific artist or track to a report. For anything more complex, though, using AIs to extract data from Chartmetric via MCP is slow and soon becomes prohibitively expensive. When you use Flow, you are actually using ChatGPT and Claude — but with permanent access to the entire Chartmetric dataset, with billions of new rows of data added each day. With Flow, the AIs can see everything, all at once.

What does Flow understand that general-purpose AIs don't?

Insight and understanding. Because general-purpose AIs are trained solely on public data, they lack contemporary industry insight and understanding — they don't know what they don't know. Flow has been trained to understand the music industry and adds a deep layer of insider knowledge on top of the general-purpose AI. It understands the terminology, the trends, the complexities and the subtleties of the industry, and how consumers discover, consume and share music and engage with artists. Flow doesn't get distracted by the obvious or jump to simplistic conclusions. It helps you get the right answer, every time.

Data & Metrics

How often is the data updated?

Most platform metrics update daily. Some social signals (TikTok, Instagram) update multiple times per day. Streaming stats from Spotify and Apple Music typically reflect the previous day's numbers by early morning.

Which platforms does Flow track?

Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, Shazam, Pandora, Deezer, SoundCloud, and more. Coverage varies by metric type — streaming and playlist data is most complete for DSPs; follower and engagement data covers all major social platforms.

What is the CM Score?

The CM Score is Chartmetric's composite artist ranking — a 0–100 score calculated daily using fanbase size and engagement across all tracked platforms, normalized within peer cohorts. It's a single number that lets you compare momentum across very different types of artists.

Can I track artists that aren't on my roster?

Yes. You can search and view any artist in the Chartmetric database — which covers virtually every artist with a meaningful streaming or social footprint. Your roster is just a saved shortlist for quick access.

The AI Assistant

How does the AI assistant work?

The assistant is connected to your roster data and can answer questions in plain language — things like "Who had the biggest TikTok spike this week?" or "What's driving Bad Bunny's Spotify growth?" It uses Chartmetric's data as context, so answers are grounded in real numbers, not guesses.

Is the assistant making things up?

We designed it not to. The assistant pulls from live data and cites its sources inline. When it doesn't have data for something, it says so. That said, like any LLM-powered tool, treat its analysis as a starting point — not the final word.

Can the assistant take actions, or just answer questions?

Right now it's primarily analytical — it surfaces insights, drafts summaries, and helps you think through artist data. Action-oriented features (drafting pitches, setting alerts) are available directly in the Take Action tab.

Do I need a Chartmetric account to use Flow?
